About
An outfitter is a shop where the staff have used the kit. That is the only rule the founders wrote down, and it is still the one we hire by.
The short version
Wrexby Outfitters opened in 1987 in a former tannery on Tannery Lane, with two racks of boots, a wall of maps and a kettle. The town sits on the edge of the moor, so the first customers were walkers who needed boots that would survive a wet winter, and the shop learned to fit boots properly because the alternative was handling the returns.
Today the company runs three stores, a warehouse at Kiln Park, a web shop and a support desk, and employs about 180 people. Most of the store staff are walkers, climbers or paddlers first and retailers second, which is the point.
What we promise
- We fit boots properly, and we will not sell you a boot that fits in the shop but not on the hill.
- We repair what we sell. Resoling, zip replacement, pole sections and stove servicing are done in house at Wrexby.
- We take back what fails. If a piece of kit does not do what we said, bring it to any store.

Why this site is here
Wrexby Outfitters is a fictional company. It exists so that readers of the Atarus Offensive Security book series have one organisation to assess, chapter after chapter, without touching anyone real. This public site is the only part of Wrexby on the internet, and it is here so that the reconnaissance chapters have a real registration, real DNS records and a real certificate to look up. Everything else about Wrexby, the stores, the staff, the warehouse systems and the accounts, exists only inside a reader's own lab. The legal page has the full notice.
